How can I inspire our ward leaders to become good missionaries?<\/font>
\n<\/h2>\n
Your bishop and other ward leaders are very busy, and you can\u2019t tell them what their priorities ought to be. \u00a0But they\u00a0want<\/em>\u00a0to succeed. \u00a0This means that if you succeed, the bishop and other ward leaders will jump aboard as you become successful.<\/p>\n

So become a great missionary yourself. \u00a0Find someone for the missionaries to teach, and then bear testimony of the joy this brings. \u00a0Work through your ward and full-time missionaries to teach the principles for sharing the gospel, as described in\u00a0The Power of Everyday Missionaries<\/a>. \u00a0As other members of your ward succeed, invite them to share their testimonies about how it felt.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Set goals for the number of people you and your ward members will find for the missionaries to teach; and build a ward mission plan that describes how you will do this. \u00a0Then report your success relative to your goals in your ward council meetings, using tools described in the case,\u00a0The Mission of the Wilmington Ward<\/a>.<\/em>\u00a0 Your ward leaders will buy in as you succeed.<\/p>\n

Share from pp. 7-10 in\u00a0Everyday Missionaries\u00a0<\/a>the blessings that the Lord has promised to those who share the gospel. These will help leaders realize that there is no trade-off between focusing on missionary work and other responsibilities they might have.\u00a0<\/p>\n

How can I inspire the members of my ward to share the gospel and find people for the full-time missionaries to teach?<\/font><\/h2>\n
This is the point of greatest leverage in your service as ward mission leader. \u00a0The members of your ward\u00a0want<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>to become good member missionaries. \u00a0They just don\u2019t know\u00a0how<\/em>\u00a0to do it. \u00a0True principles need to be taught and a few false principles may need to be \u201cuntaught\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A wonderful talk given by President Russell Hancock of the Menlo Park CA stake that describes different ways in which we can develop testimonies. It is great for investigators, missionaries and members.<\/p>\n

My Ways Are Not Your Ways<\/a>
An Ensign article that examines the counterintuitive ways in which Jesus instructs us to be (for example, “love your enemies”), and how those can be used to help individuals help the Church and its Saints to grow stronger.<\/p>\n

The Power of Everyday Missionaries<\/a>.
This book can be very helpful in setting goals that include both ward members and missionaries. \u00a0It will take about 4 hours to read.<\/p>\n

Seven Lessons on Sharing the Gospel<\/a>
This article appeared in the\u00a0Ensign<\/a><\/u>, February 2005, p. 36\u201341.\u00a0 It summarizes some of the member missionary principles that are explored in more depth in the book.<\/p>\n

This document builds upon “Seven Lessons on Sharing the Gospel<\/a>,”\u00a0including additional insights gleaned from more years of practice as a member missionary.<\/p>\n

Member Missionary Course<\/a>
We have also designed a three-week\u00a0course\u00a0to teach members the principles of missionary work. These can be used in Sunday-School format, with groups of ten or 12 members at a time. Some wards have asked ward missionaries or full-time missionaries to teach these principles in members\u2019 homes.<\/p>\n
